Is someone crazey after getting engaged after 3 weeks??

I can vouchon getting engaged after knowing someone for only 3 weeks. My only question is what took her so long? Let me explain! When I was 22 a friend and I were traveling down a country road one night and a lady friend of his passed by and we turned around and followed her home. We all sat out on the back porch and sipped long island iced tea and just had a great time. The next day his friend came by where I worked to see me and we talked and for the next few nights (five to be exact) we messed around after work. Let me tell you something just clicked. Sure we had fun but it was more than that. On the fifth night we started talking about what we wanted in the future and I casually mentioned that I wanted to marry someone just like her. She very bluntly said, "If your asking the answer is yes." 28 days later were were standing in front of the preacher saying our "I do's". People that we work with actually took bets on how long we would be married and I don't think any of them guessed over 5 years. 13 Years later we are happily married and I love her more now that the day we met. We have 2 beautiful children and life is just great. And by the way many of the folks that made those bets have since divorced some after several years of marriage. Sure there were some rough times at the beginning because unlike long relationships we didn't have the luxury of knowing each others every little nook and cranny but in my opinion I wouldn't have it any other way. I would have been easy if we were just dating to say oh well this ain't gonna work, but we stuck it out and made the best of some bad situations. Now everything is roses (at least most of the time).Love can happen at first sight. But the bigger thing is that marriage is a commitment and a bond much stronger than any long term relationship can ever be. I'm by no means a relationship specialist or a shrink but here are some words of advice for your friend that I can also vouchon:1. surround yourself with other couples...single people (although great friends) can't understand the commitment you have made to each other2. misery does love company so make sure the couples you hang out with are happy too. nothing can put a strain on a new couple like being around two people who seem to hate each other.3. In the words of the late great coach of the Green Bay Packers, Vince Lombardi, "Never, Never, Never Quit" even when it seems like there's no other way. Your commitment is forever and if you are willing to make that commitment your love will be also.Congratulations to your friend and instead of wondering if she is crazy just look at how happy she is and support her decision and wish them the best.

I know Wordpress is not a traditional CMS, but for most sites, it does the job. I only know a bit of php, I can customize Wordpress any way I want - and make it do just about anything. The most recent version of WP (2.1) even has a few extra features built in that make it more like a cms and less like traditional blogging software. For what it's worth, I've installed and used, joomla/mambo, drupal, webedit (by interspire), phpnuke, wordpress, and moveable type.I prefer WP but I realize that it's not perfect for all cases. In my opinion, though, if I came across a project that I couldn't do with WP, I'd have a cms custom coded for the site. Hope this helps!

I'm a big fan of eating a handful of almonds for a snack. They taste fantastic and they have just enough fat in them to give you a "full" feeling. Raw almonds are the best for you because they have undisturbed omega-3 fatty acids but I'm also a big fan of the roasted & salted ones from Emerald. When roasted and salted, they're not the best health-wise snack, but they're certainly better than chips.

Half my family is British, tea is a serious matter. While we differ on brands, we do agree open/full leaf is the only way to go. At work I keep a Black and Decker Brew n'Go - made to do one cup of coffee but it works perfect for open leaf tea. (Use two teaspoons for one coffee cup worth of tea).My brand is Republic of Tea - I drink tea straight as you do and I find they have the best flavor. For the morning, I'd say go with black teas (also higher caffeine than green), and Earl Greyer is a good place to start. Vanilla Almond and Ginger Peach are two of my favorites for branching out. I'd say order one of each in an 10oz full leaf can and get yourself a Brew n'Go. In a week you'll be saying, "what's coffee"?

In Rome I often frequented Obika( a mozzarella bar and the selection was wonderful. You must try their happy hour if you are ever there as it is one of the greatest deals in town). In the states I highly recommend Whole Foods and Bristol Farms for water packed creamy textured mozzarella. I make caprese with it and its absolutely wonderful.

I just saw pursuit of happyness last night and i have to agree with will smith when he told his son don't ever let anyone tell you not to follow your dream. If your friend's heart says the time is right and don't let this opportunity pass by then she should follow her heart. Judging by the fact she doesn't make those rash decisions that often, she must be in love and have found someone very great, and so i wish her the best of luck :)

I won't go into all the reasons I think folks should give to charity, I'll just stick to this one.Charitable giving is a great way to save money on your taxes and put your money to good use as well. Gifts of highly appreciated assets (like stocks or bonds with high appreciation) are the best assets for giving and will likely save you the most in taxes. I would also recommend budgeting your giving each year so that you know how much you plan to give away and which organization you plan to give it to. Many people who itemize their taxes make the mistake of giving several small (<$100) gifts each year and fail to list them under itemized deductions. Give regularly or in large chuncks to make tracking your deductions easier. If you'd like me to keep going, just say so in a comment below :)

not doing something like that

3 weeks? I'm the first post-er to say huh? Crazy would be a good description for someone getting engaged after 3 weeks. The post about the guy getting married within a month and engaged after 5 days - an exception. I realize that when people get older the courtship process accelerates like kobe bryant in the lane of a raptors game, but 3 weeks? Crazy would be a good description, perhaps crazy in love, but still crazy. Might as well go for an arranged marriage if the couples are that desperate for companionship. Ok, in all fairness, if you want to make an assessment (and keep it to yourself) look at your friends age, history, and mentality. Recent break-up? Highly susceptible to infatuation? 20? Now once you come to an assessment, it is your duty as a friend to keep it to yourself and only subtly hint or ask questions if necessary. Let your friend make her own decisions, even if you feel she's going to get screwed (unless he's abusive or sleeps around - and she's not into that stuff). Some people learn that way and all you can do is be supportive while your friends grow. Im not saying to sell-out and sell an opinion that is not yours as that is deceiving. Be diplomatic in your decision-making (don't be jealous, or whatever self-interested reasons may exist) and be diplomatic in what you say. The last thing you want to happen is it not to go through because you decided to call a shot (ie. saying that she's terribly wrong and to 'trust you').

The graphics are nice, it also has some improvements with wireless networking. However, there are very few drivers, it can be a pain getting some programs to work. I would recommend it for a PC; however, but not for laptops. The extra graphics and other processes take away from a significant amount of battery life. Also the way Vista handles "sleep" is much different. When a laptop is set to sleep any action (undocking or mouse moving) will wake it up, which can take up to 10 minutes, much longer than a shutdown. (XP would sleep/unsleep in a few seconds and only do so when you pressed the power button).

I was planning to recommend the Mr. Coffee 12-cup coffee maker that I own until I saw that nearly every one of the 168 reviews on amazon said it leaked! For what it's worth, I've had mine for about a year and it hasn't started leaking yet. It makes good, quality coffee and has timers that let you know when the coffee is finished brewing and when the warmer plate is going off. If I reviewed it on amazon today, I'd have to give it 5 stars (but I probably won't review it until it starts leaking :) ).

The Muse's Black Holes & Revelations is a must have for any alternative music lover. The electrifying music is how rock guitar should sound, insteand of all this sound-a-like so called punk rock stuff that you hear all over the radio. Black Holes & Revelations is a refreshing sound of the new and old. An A in my book.

I've seen similar "find a good gift" websites in the past but it looks like gifts.com finally got it right. As a quick test, I ran myself through the quick "gift finder" and of the 12 items that showed up on the front page, I already have (or have done) at least 4 of them - and all of the others were pretty cool by my standards.

I can tell you two presents that went over very well with my husband. The first was a Chrismtas present one year - pilot lessons for a day. The second was his most recent birthday present, which was skydiving with his wife. It's way more fun when I can get him a present that I, too, can enjoy. I highly recommend skydiving for anyone who's never been. It's worth it to spring the extra cash for the video.

Winn Dixie High

I used to teach at Wakefield High School in Raleigh, NC. Last year Wake County school system purchased an old Winn Dixie a mile from the high school and are going to turn it in to the 9th grade academy. An interesting concept, no doubt. However, from a teacher's perspective, it seems like a bad one. We (as a country) are having a hard time keeping teachers teaching. Something like 60% of all teachers quit within the first 5 years of the attempt. The reasons for quitting are varied, but one is the lack of community in schools...the lack of a "normal" working environment where collaboration and community efforts are key. Is the solution really to separate 25% of the teachers from the rest of the school, and isolate them, stranded with the nasty of all nasties...9th graders? If I were the king (am I am most certainly not) this is not an avenue I would steer towards. However, overcrowding is the order of the day and this seems like an easy solution for the moment. Legislate on you free-wheelin' radicals! vouchon!

I realize Christmas is many, many days from now, but there are other opportunities for gifts - right? The Genographic Project Participation Kit from National Geographic allows you to swab your cheek for a DNA sample and submit it to the lab for either mitochondrial dna (mother's line) testing or Y-chromosome (men only - father's line) testing. The site says, "Your results will reveal your deep ancestry along a single line of direct descent (paternal or maternal) and show the migration paths they followed thousands of years ago. Your results will also place you on a particular branch of the human family tree. Some anthropological stories are more detailed than others, depending upon the lineage you belong to."Check it out. It's a good present for guys and girls alike.

Who likes purses? How about really freaking awesome purses?? Do I hear a resounding "yes"? I thought so! As some of you may already know, my friend Jenny Yuen is a handbag designer and she makes the best purses in the world. I've seen them in person myself and oh my god I had to have one (and yes she is sending me one as I speak because I've been demanding it). It's incredibly well designed, detailed, and sturdy! The kind of purses you take everywhere to nice places or casually or to work. The kind that doesn't look like what everyone else has.She just started a few months ago and got pretty big fast. She's featured in Lucky and several other magazines adn selling at boutiques in NY.Check her out: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=108045083Her site will be coming soon: www.jennywashere.com
